As a leader in the music community, we are reaching out seeking collaboration in our new Arts in Medicine Program. At Cadence Hospice, we provide Music Therapy as part of our clinical team with a full time Board-Certified Music Therapist. Patients who have difficulty communicating, regulating emotions, or managing pain require 1-on-1 support within a therapeutic context. However, most of our patients would benefit from more recreational music experiences.
Arts in Medicine is a new supplementary volunteer program providing our patients with opportunities to enjoy music outside of the context of music therapy. We currently have volunteers who are skilled musicians looking for experience volunteering in a healthcare setting. Under the supervision of the Volunteer Coordinator and Music Therapist, Arts in Medicine volunteers coordinate and schedule time to perform their repertoire among the most grateful of audiences. Volunteers also have opportunities to participate in trainings regarding using music with the older adult population.
If any of your students are required to complete volunteer hours, are interested in healthcare or music therapy, or would like to prepare for juries with a non-judgmental, friendly audience...
Please contact our Samantha Lomeli, BSW-volunteer coordinator.
