Food preparation is housed at our main kitchen on the Watkins Campus. We produce 4,500 meals a day. This central location is responsible for providing meals to all 5 St. Vincent de Paul dining rooms and over 20 partner social service agencies throughout the valley.
Duties include but are not limited to: chopping vegetables, fruits, and meat, opening cans, washing and processing produce from the Urban Farm, panning out frozen foods, packaging food, clean up (e.g. mopping, taking out garbage, washing dishes, etc), or simply making a good ol’ fashioned PB&J for the hundreds of sack lunches we hand out daily to our guests.
Please note that closed-toe shoes with rubber soles are required, and we will provide additional required attire: gloves, plastic apron & hair net. Water bottles brought in must be able to be closed.

Mission Statement
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul has a 2-part mission that is dependent upon YOU! We Feed, Clothe, House, & Heal homeless & low-income individuals and families in our community who are in need of support. We provide meaningful opportunities for volunteers to serve their neighbors in need with love and compassion. Volunteers are 95% of our workforce because we believe this is how our world works best - we all need to work together to create a community that works for all of us.
Description
SVdP has been serving our community throughout central and northern Arizona since 1946.
Programs include:
* Services for the homeless.
* Medical and dental care for the working poor.
* Charity dining rooms that serve thousands each day.
* Food boxes for hungry families.
* Thrift stores throughout the region.
* A bridge housing shelter.
* General assistance for individuals in need.
To begin, we invite you to attend a virtual volunteer orientation. This will give you a sense of our mission and history, and help you figure out the ways to use your passions to best help us accomplish our service to the community. We’ll review the many different volunteer opportunities available (over 25 programs / locations!), and help you figure out where your interests match up and what type of volunteer position will work best for you and your schedule.
If you are interested in attending a volunteer orientation please email volunteer@svdpaz.org or call 602-261-6886. Fill out a volunteer application at www.stvincentdepaul.net/volunteer.
