Playgroup Assistant - Ypsilanti

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program is seeking volunteers to help a local non-profit staff a playgroup children can attend while their parents attend support groups. This position allows the agency to serve more clients, especially those who are lower income.

Tasks: Provide a welcoming and inclusive environment to diverse families enrolled in the group. Support playgroup staff in managing the group participants on a bi-weekly basis. Engage the playgroup participants through relevant games and activities. Assist with set up and packing up the playgroup equipment.

Qualifications: : Relevant qualification or experience in Early Childhood, community service or related fields. Good rapport with children and an understanding of the importance of play for early years. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated positive values of integrity, accountability, reliability, confidentiality and working as part of a team in a diverse community.

Time: 3 hours bi-weekly for a minimum of 3 months (days and time TBD)

Location of work: Central office is in Ypsilanti near the corner of Huron and Michigan.
