Positions Summary:

Volunteers will assist teaching artists with classroom management and also engage in activities with participating students. All activities will be related to dance. Volunteers will also assist with set up/tear down for teaching artist. This position would be ideal for college education majors and those with a special interest in movement based art forms. The activity for the entirety of this volunteer position is dance.

Dates:

Every Monday from June 3rd-July 22nd

Time: 9:00am-11:00am

Location: Vernell Coleman Recreation Center 830 W Tonto St. Phoenix, AZ 85007

Main Job Duties:

  • Be on time and enthusiastic each day
  • Notify Teaching Artists of any illness or absence as soon as possible
  • Serve as a role model for participants by promoting respectful interactions and participation
  • Assist with set up/tear down
  • Assist with activity supplies

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must provide fingerprint card if over the age of 18
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds as needed
  • Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time
  • Available for full two hours shift
  • Experience leading groups of children
  • Enthusiastic and engaging personality

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with groups of children
  • Experience in dance related activities

Description

Phoenix Center for the Arts is a Central Arts Alliance facility located adjacent to Hance Park, at 1202 N Third Street in Downtown Phoenix. Central Arts Alliance is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, providing arts and culture opportunities for all through education, programming, and advocacy. Phoenix Center for the Arts is proud to be a facility of and supported by the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department. Phoenix Center for the Arts is supported in part by an award from the Arizona Commission on the Arts, an agency of the State of Arizona. Partial funding provided by the Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture through appropriations from the Phoenix City Council.
