Virginia Beach CASA

CASA Virginia Beach is recruiting for Advocates! The Virginia Beach Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program trains volunteers, age 21 & over, to act as special advocates in the VB Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court for children who have been abused or neglected. We also need volunteers to assist in the office, in court, and with events, so whatever fits you is available. We’re hoping to recruit a more diverse group and we encourage everyone to apply.

We look forward to sharing more about what being a CASA entails. The next Virginia Beach CASA information session will be:

  • Wednesday, January 17th at 4:00pm- https://us06web.zoom.us/j/86471080475

Please use the Zoom link to join, which can so also be found on our website. We will share information on the program history, statistics, and what it requires to become a CASA!

Every child deserves a safe home and a loving family. Nobody longs for this more than a child in the foster care system. As a Court Appointed Special Advocate, you are empowered by the courts to help make these dreams become a reality. Through your volunteer advocacy, you will not only bring positive change to the lives of these vulnerable children, but also to the future lives of their children. And in return, you will enrich your own life as well. The CASA volunteer is often the only consistent adult in the life of an abused or neglected child, helping protect that child's fundamental right to be safe, to be treated with dignity, and to learn and grow in the safe embrace of a loving family. With the preference of the Juvenile Court to recruit and train one volunteer for every case of abuse and neglect that enters the system, Virginia Beach CASA has a big responsibility to train advocates year-round. We also work with your schedule.

Mission Statement

The Virginia Beach CASA Program is a private, non-profit organization committed to advocating for the best interests of children invloved in the Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court process. The program promotes safe, permanent homes for all children and seeks to educate the community concerning the needs of abused and neglected children.

Description

The Virginia Beach Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Program works to ensure that safe permanent homes are secured for abused and neglected children who come before the Court. The CASA volunteer provides the court with an independent, objective investigation of the home environment and child's needs, recommends available alternatives to meet the needs of the child, and monitors the Court's orders for the child and family.
