Positions Summary:
Camp Counselors at Phoenix Center for the Arts will have the chance to experience new art forms, earn free art classes, and develop skills working with children aged 5-14. All camp volunteers assist Camp Managers and instructors with day-to-day activities including, but not limited to, art classes, lunchtime, before and after care, classroom prep, and performances.
The Camp Counselor position is not a paid position and is volunteer work only. Every 40 hours of volunteer work for the Center earns you one FREE art class.
Dates:
Each volunteer may sign up for at minimum one session. The standard shift is 8:00am-5:00pm. Half day shifts are available.

Main Job Duties:
- Be on time and enthusiastic each day
- Notify Camp Manager of any illness or absence as soon as possible
- Serve as a role model for campers by promoting respectful interactions and participation
- Assist with ensuring the safety of campers by following camp procedures and routines
- Lead a group of up to 15 campers and participate in all activities with groups
- Transition assigned campers between classes
- Assist with planning and implementation of camp activities
- Recognize and respond to conflicts
- Assist with planning and implementation of camp activities
- Refer any destructive, unsafe, or continually disruptive behaviors to instructor or Camp Manager
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least 15 years old
- Must provide fingerprint card if over the age of 18
- Ability to lift 25 pounds as needed
- Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time
- Available for half days for one or more camp sessions
- Experience leading groups of children
- Enthusiastic and engaging personality
Preferred Qualifications:
- Available full days for one or more camp sessions
- Certified in Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED

Description
Phoenix Center for the Arts is a Central Arts Alliance facility located adjacent to Hance Park, at 1202 N Third Street in Downtown Phoenix. Central Arts Alliance is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, providing arts and culture opportunities for all through education, programming, and advocacy. Phoenix Center for the Arts is proud to be a facility of and supported by the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department. Phoenix Center for the Arts is supported in part by an award from the Arizona Commission on the Arts, an agency of the State of Arizona. Partial funding provided by the Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture through appropriations from the Phoenix City Council.
