ORGANIZATION: Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation

Volunteer at a preschool - middle school nature discovery camp. Assist teacher with lessons, set-up and tear down, crafts and learning. Many activities are outdoors in nature. If you are interested in reptiles, our camps include animal interactions with our animal ambassadors, too.

Each camp is from 9:30-3:00pm. Volunteer time begins during set-up at 9:00am and ends at clean-up at 3:00pm. Sign up for a schedule for all or part of summer, or just a few shifts!

Mission Statement

The Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation (AHLF) was established as a non-profit corporation in 1990 to conserve, restore and enhance the environmental features of the Agua Hedionda Lagoon, marsh, wetlands, and watershed areas. The AHLF operates the lovely Lagoon Discovery Center at 1580 Cannon Road in Carlsbad, where they holds numerous environmental educational programming every year.

Description

The Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation's objective is to:

-Advocate for the lagoon, promoting and assuring future lagoon vitality

-Promote balanced recreational and commercial uses of the lagoon and wetlands

-Provide strong support for public access, trails and recreational opportunities

-Develop and promote, through The Lagoon Discovery Center, educational programs to enhance community and visitor awareness and understanding of water resource and watershed-related environmental issues.

  • Orientation or Training
  • You can volunteer for the 9am-noon shift, the noon-3pm shift, or all day! You are not required to come every day, or stay for the entire shift.
