Penny Howe Trail - Project Coordinator

Project Overview

North Mountain, one of the most visited urban parks in Phoenix, has been adopted by AZSA as one of the two parks that we maintain. The purpose of this project is to revitalize the only handicapped accessible trail in North Mountain park The Penny Howe trail has gone into disrepair due to a lack of funds. AZSA seeks to revitalize this area by not only fixing the trail, but by adding educational information, drought resilient trees and shrubs and artistic installations.

Job Purpose

The purpose of the Project Coordinator position is to lead and ensure the successful execution of the project. This will consist of identifying and working with a diverse set of stakeholders and partners for the successful design and implementation of the project. The Project Coordinator will work directly with the City of Phoenix Parks and the AZSA Adopt-a-Park priority leads to develop a project plan for successful implementation.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Be available as the main point of contact for the Penny Howe Trail project
  • Develop and foster key partners for all aspects of the design and implementation of the project
  • Identify partners that can act as funders for the project; present the project plans and results to secure funds
  • Manage various volunteers to address all project needs
  • Prepare a multi-year project plan
  • Report all progress and information back to the Adopt-a-Park priority leaders
