Truck Unloader and Site Helper for Food Pantry
Initiative: Beyond the Basics
Impact area: Basic Needs (food, clothing, housing)
Location(s): Hartford, CT
Hours: Weekday evenings
Desired level of commitment: Twice per month
Duration: Year-round
Age requirement: 18+
Tasks may include:
- Setting up tables and chairs
- Unloading the truck
- Sorting food items according to the specified stations
- Throwing out garbage
- Breaking down empty boxes and disposing of them
- Cleaning and organizing
- A registered UAServe volunteer (you will have a chance to register if you haven't already)
- Willing to attend an orientation prior to volunteering
- Willing to submit a background check
- Willing to complete additional host site specific paperwork and requirements
- Willing to complete a Waiver of Liability Relating to COVID-19
- Willing to follow COVID-19 Volunteer Safety Protocol
- Open to an ongoing volunteer commitment that works with your schedule
- Positive
- Able to follow directions and procedures
- Able to lift up to 40 pounds
- Honest
- Eager to serve a community in need
- Punctual and committed
