PLACEMENT PURPOSE Opportunities available in Kern, Tulare, and Kings Counties Provide disaster health care by meeting the disaster related health needs of clients and providing support to other volunteers. Participate in preparedness activities. Support local DAT response, shelters and emergency aid stations.

The American Red Cross Central California Region serves over 4.2 million residents throughout 11 counties: Fresno, Inyo, Kern, Kings, Madera, Mariposa, Mono, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Tulare and Ventura.
Boots on the Ground -- Your role could be to respond to home fires and other emergencies in your community, conduct in-home smoke alarm installation and fire safety education visits, or working in a wildfire shelter providing safe accommodations.
Instructor/Presenter positions to deliver education programs focused on preparedness, disasters and how to "Be Red Cross Ready" to adults and youth.
Client Facing Help Our Clients - Your role could be working with a family after a home fire, helping people locate loved ones after a war or natural disaster, or assisting military families with emergency communications and other services. This work can be emotionally draining but also deeply satisfying as you provide aid and comfort in someone’s time of need.
Lead the Way - "Leadership" volunteers guide our efforts, inspire our volunteers and hold us accountable to the highest standards. Your role could be to lead a small team of fellow volunteers, act as an advisor to a Red Cross Club for youth, or joining our Board of Directors.
Tell the Red Cross Story - Communications & Outreach volunteers educate the public about Red Cross services and stories in your community. Your role could be to represent the Red Cross at community events, work with your local media, or tell Red Cross stories through marketing, social media, or photography.
