Sports can change lives.

Do you like to run or throw things? Does helping people with intellectual disabilities reach their potential appeal to you? Then we have a great volunteer opportunity for you. The Thrive Red Hawks are looking for Unified Partners for the 2019 Special Olympics Summer Games. Unified Partners are members of the community that compete on the same team with individuals with intellectual disabilities. The primary mission of a Unified Partner is to help support individuals with intellectual disabilities and help them become involved in the community.

You don't have to be a gifted athlete you just have to be eager to participate. The team practices start in April and are held Friday evenings from 6:15 pm. to 7:30 pm. They conclude the week before the Special Olympic Summer Games in June 8th in Boston. There is one day-long Event May 4th and one day-long event June 8th -with an opportunity to chaperone overnight in June.

Join a great team that's recognized as being a trendsetter. Our volunteers are accepting and come from diverse backgrounds. You don't have to be a track star -you just have to be a good teammate and a proclivity for some free t-shirts and swag.

The Thrive Red Hawks are part of the social and recreation program for Thrive Inc, formerly known as Greater Marlboro Programs Incorporated. We have been helping individuals with intellectual disabilities abilities help themselves for over 40 years.
