ORGANIZATION: Esperanza Immigrant Rights Project

Esperanza is a non-profit law firm that educates and represents immigrants in deportation proceedings at the Los Angeles Immigration Court. We are looking for passionate and hard working undergraduate interns for this summer. During the course of the internship, you will be responsible for certain ongoing tasks, as well as a larger project. Regular ongoing responsibilities will include meetings with unrepresented immigrants in removal proceedings, and conducting interviews to obtain the facts necessary for staff attorneys to assess legal relief. The majority of individuals to be interviewed will be monolingual Spanish speakers from Central America, and so proficiency in Spanish is required.

Esperanza’s internship will provide you the opportunity for a hands-on, practical experience, the opportunity to learn about immigration removal defense, and have a tangible and direct impact on the lives of the most vulnerable immigrants. We encourage initiative and autonomy, while fostering a collaborative, team-oriented culture.
