Roughly 30% of food donated to Marion-Polk Food Share is comes from grocery stores through our Fresh Alliance program. Grocery stores donate produce, dairy and meat when these products are nearing their peak freshness. These donations are then distributed through our network of partner agencies to feed our hungry neighbors.
The Fresh Alliance program has seen an increase in donated food and staff is working diligently to sort and repack the food so it can quickly be distributed to our network of food pantries, but they could use your help!
Fresh Alliance staff are looking for volunteer support from 9:00am - 11:00am and 1:00pm - 3:00pm on Monday through Friday. Volunteers will be sorting the donated food and ensuring that we are distributing quality food to our neighbors. This is a great opportunity for individuals or small groups!
