Volunteer Polk needs trainers to instruct individuals or groups on how to create mats out of plastic bags for the homeless citizens of Polk County. These mats use about 700 plastic bags and keeps them out of our landfills. Trainers are needed to lead and direct a group of volunteers in helping to re-purpose plastic shopping bags into "plarn" (plastic yarn). Plarn is crocheted (you may just prep plarn if crocheting is not your talent) into 6 ft. sleeping mats for Polk's homeless. Volunteer trainers will be responsible for bringing groups together, collecting volunteer hours, and reporting updates on how the group is doing to the Volunteer Polk office.
