We are looking for volunteers to be involved at either Coronado Navel Base (if current active base access) or on Imperial Beach as part of our San Diego Zoo Global- Institute for Conservation Research (ICR) Least Tern & Snowy Plover conservation project. This role focuses on community education about conservation efforts in this area and how the public can help protect habitats. This opportunity will also allow volunteers to inform the public of how the military base helps our local endangered and threatened species. We have a great relationship with the Bases and have helped them for the last several years with outreach informing the public of our local nesting birds and how working together we can make a difference.
This role will take place on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from Memorial Day weekend at the end of May to Labor Day weekend at beginning of September. A schedule will be established with confirmed volunteers, volunteer shifts can be morning (8am to 12pm), afternoon (12pm to 4pm) or full day (8am to 4pm), we looking for volunteers who can do a minimum of 16 hours over this 3 month period.
