ORGANIZATION: Volunteers of America Northern Colorado Services

A Loveland homecare and hospice is looking for volunteers to help them as they ensure every moment counts in the final days of life for families throughout Northern Colorado. Volunteers enrich the lives of hospice patients and provide them with companionship in a time of life when others often pull away. This companionship and support can take form in many ways:
- reading scriptures, newspapers, or books
- playing music, an instrument, or singing
- painting, coloring, or crafting,
- playing board games or putting together puzzles
- talking about family, traveling, hobbies, etc.
- being a comforting presence to relieve loneliness
- providing respite (temporary relief) for the family to run errands and make appointments

Indirect care opportunities for volunteers:
- scrapbooking for remembrance ceremonies
- creating needed items for patients such as weighted blankets, busy blankets, twiddle muffs, etc.
- Administrative tasks: stuffing and stamping envelopes, assembling training packets, etc.
