The American Liver Foundation's mission is to promote education, advocacy, support services and research for the prevention, treatment and cure of liver disease.

Every year, ALF’s Gala hosts more than 250 local notables, influential supporters, doctors, medical professionals, strategic partners and business leaders in the healthcare and biotech industries. Sponsors and their guests will enjoy an exclusive VIP reception with the Honorees and then join a cocktail reception in the Private Den with the rest of the guests followed by an elegant 3-course dinner in the historic Veranda Ballroom. A silent auction sporting exciting surprises and a vacation drawing rounds out a wonderful gala ending in a stunning awards presentation to the 2019 Honorees. The Salute to Excellence Awards Gala has raised over $4 million to benefit the American Liver Foundation.

As a volunteer, you will help the American Liver Foundation raise much-needed funds for educational programs which provide informative updates on chronic liver disease & nutritional information throughout Northern CA. In 2018, volunteers work helped reached ALF's goal, and as promised, ALF expanded educational programs to North Bay and South Bay, so join us and help change lives!

Mission Statement

ALF’s mission is to promote education, advocacy, support services and research for the prevention, treatment and cure of liver disease.

Description

lthough liver disease is among the ten major causes of death in the United States, there was no national voluntary health agency devoted exclusively to combating liver diseases until 1976, when the American Liver Foundation was formed.

The American Liver Foundation was created in 1976 by the American Association for the Study of Liver Disease (AASLD). This organization of scientists and healthcare professionals was concerned with the rising incidence of liver disease and the lack of awareness among both the general public and the medical community. The mission, the programs and the services provided by American Liver Foundation complement the great work of AASLD.

No other voluntary organization in the nation provides a voice for the 30 million Americans with liver disease. Read about how this was accomplished in our timeline 40 Years in the Making created on our anniversary in 2016.

American Liver Foundation makes a measurable difference in the fight against liver disease by providing financial support for medical research, education for medical professionals, and advocacy and information for patients and their families, and by creating public awareness campaigns about liver wellness and disease prevention.
