POSITION SUMMARY: Seeking caring, compassionate Christian volunteers, comfortable providing support via video-conference technology or in person. The coach/mentor will work with assigned participants - one-on-one, couples and family sessions - to aid their progress in navigating addiction, mental health and/or other life challenges, such as codependency, relationship and marital stresses, rebuilding trust, self-care, grief, faith, etc. You will be paired with participants that match your interests and life experiences. Ideal candidates will have a passion for helping people, biblical knowledge, and an interest or experience in counseling and coaching. This position will require you to meet with at least one individual once a week for one hour. Your flexibility and availability to consistently meet participants every week are very important. We will work with you to arrange meeting times so they suit your schedule.

This position is a long term commitment. Training from Mission Addiction is required, to learn "the MA way." Our Map for Healing and Recovery program series is a large part of our coach/mentor training. It will ensure that you yourself are balanced and healed, as well as orient you to the tools and concepts we use.

- Map programs start in January, May and September.
- Map program graduates are automatically considered for the coach/mentor role
- This is our most sacred volunteer role - all candidates are subject to a background check.
- A separate coach's guide, quick reference tools, and observation experience are provided, to make sure you're comfortable and ready.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Strong interpersonal communication and listening skills
- Knowledge about working with vulnerable populations and the ability to form coaching/mentoring partnerships with them (must exhibit healthy professional boundaries)
- Ability to practice coaching skills such as listening, goal setting, stress management, habit building, direction/purpose finding, accountability, confidence building, etc.
- Knowledge of the Bible and the Christian faith and a life that reflects that

PREFERRED: (but not required)
- Experience or interest in counseling, psychology, social work, peer support, and/or chemical dependency
- Spiritual coaching and/or faith leadership background
- Experience working with addiction (personally or professionally)
- Experience working with mental health (personally or professionally)
- Familiarity with local, regional, and national resources
- Computer proficiency

Committed candidates with less experience will be considered.

DUTIES:
- Coach participant(s) to achieve goals through in person and/or remote video sessions
- Provide support, feedback, and guidance throughout the Map program and beyond, as appropriate
- Communicate with participants in a timely manner
- Schedule coaching sessions as necessary
- Maintain all internal training requirements
- Be an ambassador for all MA services

Please send a résumé and cover letter or paragraph to Edward @Mission-Addiction.org. Include any particular interest in this position and organization, your qualifications, and any previous volunteer experience. Thank you for inquiring about this important role in our mission!

About MISSION ADDICTION

Location:

5980 Wilmington Pike, Sugarcreek Township, OH 45459, US

Mission Statement

1) Teach and coach individuals, couples and families how to heal, restore and transform their lives, to become the best version of themselves. Helping others feels great and can be "addicting". It's a MISSION ADDICTION! 2) Grow and train an army of people ready, willing and able, to help those who need and want it. 3) Provide a spiritual family to connect, network, learn, and grow in faith. (You do not have to be impacted by addiction and you do not have to be a Christian to participate.) 4) Embrace culturally diverse participants and volunteers. We depend upon that variation of thought to contribute to effective services and growth for everyone. Anything is possible when we walk together™
