ORGANIZATION: Habitat for Humanity of the Charlotte Region

Basic Function: To provide overall support to Habitat Charlotte’s Social Media and Advocacy efforts

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Capture image assets and help develop content to support Habitat Charlotte marketing and advocacy programs
  • Create content and schedule posts for all Habitat Charlotte social media platforms
  • Assist with the planning and execution of Habitat Charlotte advocacy and ReStore events
  • Assist in growth of the Habitat Charlotte advocacy ambassadors program
  • Help develop creative community engagement opportunities

Other Duties: Habitat Charlotte-related tasks as requested by Supervisor

Education/Skills:

  • Undergraduate or graduate student pursuing degree in Communications, Marketing or PR
  • Effective communicator; able to adapt communications style to target audience
  • Social Media management experience (posting, SM management tools)
  • Basic Social Media photography skills
  • Flexible self-starter
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strategic mindset

Physical Requirements: Ability to sit at a desk and operate a computer for lengthy periods of time. Ability to make presentations to supporters out of the office for lengthy periods of time.

Internal Interactions: All Habitat staff, primarily Social Media & Content Manager and Advocacy & Engagement Coordinator

External Interactions: Community Leaders, Habitat Volunteers, Habitat Homeowners,

Government & Elected Officials

Level of Authority: Report to Social Media & Content Manager

Work schedule: 25 hours per week

Founded as a Christian Ministry, Habitat for Humanity of Charlotte works in partnership with God and people from all walks of life to develop community with people in need by building and renovating homes, so that people can live and grow into all that God intended. Habitat Charlotte's mission is accomplished by: Constructing simple, decent, and affordable houses, Selling the houses at no profit and low interest and using the mortgage payments to build more houses. Demonstrating the love and teachings of Jesus Christ, Providing a way for sharing between the affluent and those in need, Working in partnership with representative local leadership, Selecting families in greatest need first, without favoritism or discrimination.

Description

Habitat for Humanity of the Charlotte Region builds houses in partnership with low income working families who purchase the homes at low interest and no profit. Volunteer labor and donated items help keep house costs low. Families must work on their own and other's homes.
