Enjoy giving back to your community? Want to help provide food for seniors in affordable housing? Help deliver free groceries to low income seniors.
SAHA is currently seeking a Volunteer Food Pantry Helper to pick up groceries at the Mercy Brown Bag Program in the Fruitvale district of Oakland and deliver them to Linda Glen and Glenn Brook Terrace off of Piedmont Avenue in Oakland. There are usually about 25 bags, weighing 15-20 pounds each. It is a great work out! Help distribute groceries to our low-income residents once or twice a month. It is a great opportunity to engage with the community and help others!
ABOUT SAHA: Satellite Affordable Housing Associates is committed to providing quality, service-enriched, affordable housing in the bay area. By providing consistent, volunteer-led programming, we hope to build community at each of our properties, while offering accessible, socialization alternatives. Our hope is to provide the necessary tools for our senior residents to age in place, and to provide exciting new opportunities for our residents to build community with their fellow residents. ABOUT THE VOLUNTEER PROGRAM: The volunteer program is managed by the volunteer coordinator who will follow up to your opportunity inquiries about an application and interview. Please note that we are only able to accommodate 9am-5pm Mon-Fri availability. In the interest of providing consistent activities for our residents, we ask that activities occur on a regular schedule; monthly, weekly or bi-weekly preferred. Residents greatly appreciate and look forward these activities as well as enjoying the company of volunteers who make them possible. Please sign up today!

Description
The purpose of the SAHA's Volunteer Program is to improve the quality of living and promote health and well-being for Satellite Housing's residents. Volunteers will help foster community by facilitating activities for the residents, such as exercise groups, art classes, discussion groups, providing health and wellness information, leading or participating in games, assisting with special events, etc. The residents really appreciate the effort that is put forth by the volunteers, and look forward to the weekly interactions.
