Position: Interpreter (English/Cantonese) Schedule: Thursdays at 10:30am (Flexible) We are looking for Cantonese interpreters to provide translation Coffee and Conversation Hours. The residents at Oak Street are gathering once a month to share stories across languages. They are learning to use interpreters and tell their stories. This is about an hour and is a super friendly group of people. Ideally, we are looking for a volunteer to attend on-going, but if you could only attend one, that is also welcomed. SAHA serves a very diverse demographic of seniors in the East Bay, a large percentage of which have limited English-speaking proficiency. The volunteer will help make programs and materials accessible to our diverse resident populace.

Volunteer to call BINGO for low-income seniors living at Monarch Apartments, in Oakland! We are looking for a volunteer to call BINGO weekly. The volunteer will facilitate BINGO games, socialize with residents and then straighten up afterward. BINGO is a very popular activity that is also a great opportunity to build community and keep our residents active! Requirements: Ongoing SAHA Community Volunteers must commit to volunteer once a week for a minimum of 4 months, and must complete a volunteer orientation, volunteer forms and background screening prior to beginning their placement.

We are looking for a volunteer to teach for 30min - 1 hour, once a week, during normal business hours (btween Monday - Friday, 9am-5pm). Through leading an exercise class you will help to give seniors an outlet for physical and spiritual activity and help them to enrich their overall wellness. The volunteer will prepare an agenda for each class and lead residents through various exercises while providing positive feedback and support.
