Help us to help others by volunteering in our family-shelter Kitchen.

The Salvation Army is currently seeking volunteers to help prepare meals for our resident families of the Garden Street Center Corps Family Shelter. weekdays we prepare meals for children enrolled at Booth Memorial Community Childcare and families living in our shelter, our staff/volunteers as well as 300 to-go lunches that are distributed around Oakland to local homeless camps and tiny home communities.

Shifts available Weekdays 11am-6pm *we do not expect volunteers to work this entire shift-duration We are flexible in scheduling and we're happy to find shifts that fit your schedule.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Background Check
  • Must be at least 17
  • up to you! We could use your help Mon-Friday, anytime between 11am-6pm. Ideally, volunteers commit to at least 1 shift per week, on a recurrent basis. (4hrs ea week, same day)
  • Volunteer duties include: - Assist with fresh produce and meat/poultry prep. - Assist with cooking and food tray prep.- Provide kitchen clean up support during and at end of shift.
