Volunteer with the Green Redmond Partnership for this year’s Martin Luther King Day of service at Idylwood Park! Dig in with us and help us to plant native trees and shrubs and be a hero for your local forested park. Meet your neighbors, get a good workout, and go home with that good feeling you get from giving back.

Gloves, tools, and instruction provided. No experience necessary. All ages are welcome!

Time: January 21st, 9am to Noon

Address: Idylwood Park 3650 West Lake Sammamish Pkwy NE Redmond, WA 98052

Where to park: Parking lot available at park entrance.

What to bring: a water bottle, a snack if you want one, and tough clothes, and shoes that can get dirty (because they will!), including long pants and a long-sleeved shirt to protect against prickly blackberry. Closed-toed shoes are required: work boots, hiking boots, or running shoes are all fine. Remember to check the weather and bring appropriate layers and rain gear or sun protection as needed. We will be working rain or shine!

Volunteers between 15 and 18 attending without a parent or guardian, please print and bring a signed Youth Waiver: https://forterra.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Green-Redmond-Vol_Release.pdf

About Forterra

Mission Statement

Forterra's mission is to act with immediacy to protect, enhance and steward our region's most precious resources--its communities and its landscapes. Since 1989, we have been working toward a future in which our children and grandchildren can experience nature in and around our urban environments.

Description

Forterra conserves land by working with individuals, companies and local governments. We strive to maximize the ecological value of land, while meeting the needs of landowners. We may accept land as a donation, purchase it, or transfer it to public ownership. We often serve as a broker to identify and negotiate the most effective ownership to protect important lands. We establish conservation easements to preserve special features. For each and every property, we explore available strategies or create new ones to provide permanent protection. Forterra has established a Conservation Agenda for our region, with specific priorities and methods for each type of landscape. Current initiatives include the protection of working forests on the foothills of the Cascades, and the creation of salmon sanctuaries along our region's highest quality rivers and streams.
