Families for Depression Awareness (FFDA) is looking for a part-time (approximately 10 hours/week) Social Media Intern (unpaid). The Social Media Intern will provide support and help develop content for our social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. S/he will report to FFDA’s Programs Coordinator.
This flexible internship involves researching and writing blog posts, drafting coordinated social media messages, communicating with other mental health organizations, brainstorming ideas on how to have the most impact and reach via social media, and using this information to facilitate the growth of our organization. The intern should have excellent communication skills and basic experience using social media sites.
Responsibilities:
- Create blog posts about families, mental health, healthcare access, policy, and/or other related topics for our Mental Health Buzz blog
- Draft and submit posts for social media platforms according to an editorial calendar
- Research mental health psychoeducation and create engaging infographics
- Research new social media partners
- Interact with other organizations’ pages in order to foster better online relationships
- Attend and contribute to weekly staff meetings
- Perform assigned tasks to support project plans and programming
Qualifications
- Pursuing a B.A. or M.A. degree in Communications, Marketing, Psychology, or related field
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Highly organized
- Desire to take initiative and ownership over projects
- Experience with various social media platforms
- Some knowledge of mental health conditions preferred
Company Profile: Families for Depression Awareness is a national nonprofit organization helping families recognize and cope with depression and bipolar disorder to get people well and prevent suicides. The organization provides education, outreach, and training to support families. Families for Depression Awareness is made up of families who have lost a family member to suicide or have watched a loved one suffer with depression, with little knowledge about how to help.

Our programs aid participants in recognizing depression in themselves and others and getting help so that no one suffers alone with untreated depression.
