"City of San Diego Therapeutic Recreation Services (TRS) is committed to providing innovative, inclusive, accessible, and affordable recreation programs which enhance the health, well-being, and quality of life for all persons with disabilities."

Every spring, TRS hosts an adaptive softball league for participants with mental health disorder diagnoses. Local mental health clubhouses and other services form teams and participate in the league. The league is non-competitive, fun, and each team really looks forward to playing each year. We’re looking for volunteers to help with score keeping and officiating the game. The games are easy to officiate because of the different rule adaptations made to the game. Prior officiating experience is great, but not required. Training will also be provided. The league will be every other Wednesday with volunteer times from 9am-1:30pm for the following dates: 3/6, 3/20, 4/3, 4/17, 5/1, 5/29, 6/12. Volunteers don’t need to commit to every single date, however; were happy to have anyone volunteer as much as they like.

Please contact Daniel Kimpel at DKimpel@sandiego.gov if you’re interested in volunteering or receiving more information. Thank you for reading this and take care.
