Dental Clinic Aide

The Arlington Free Clinic recently opened a dental clinic onsite. We are in need of Dental Clinic Aide on Saturdays (and some weekdays).

Most volunteers work once or twice per month for three hours per shift and we require an 8 month commitment. Volunteers are asked to submit an application and come in for an interview and orientation.

Arlington Free Clinic is a non-profit organization that provides health care services to resident adults in Arlington County.

Position Summary: The Dental Clinic Aide facilitates the flow of patients between the waiting area and dental clinic; sterilizes dental instruments; and cleans and prepares chairs between dental appointments. The DCA is essential to the efficient running of the dental clinic. The DCA fills in as needed to assist other staff in the efficient completion of their tasks. Volunteer must speak conversational Spanish.

• Sign-in at the volunteer hub and get your name badge
• Log into Eaglesoft
• When patient checks in, bring patient back to Dental Clinic
• Under direction of dental assistant, sterilize instruments after use
• Replenish supplies as needed
• After patient leaves, clean chair and set up for new patient

Note: This is a volunteer position that would lend itself to on-the-job training if volunteer is interested. After training has been completed, tasks could be expanded to include assisting dentist at chairside.

Also, x-ray certification can be acquired through a one-day session at NOVA. With certification, it would be possible to expand duties to taking required x-rays.

Volunteers must be 18+
