Volunteers make weekly visits to a nursing home. They meet with residents to educate them about their rights and to advocate for their needs.
Ombudsman is Swedish for "citizen advocate".
An Ombudsman is asked to make a 1 year commitment.
Initial training, in conjunction with the MA State Ombudsman Program, is a 3 day training. Monthly meetings are held for ongoing support and training.
