Position Summary:
The Refugee and Immigrant Mentoring (RIM) Program is looking for two types of volunteers:
Youth Mentor
Take the lead in supporting a young person through an ongoing, one-to-one relationship
Serve as a positive role model and friend
Build the relationship by planning and participating in activities together
Strive for mutual respect
Build self-esteem and motivation
Help set goals and work toward accomplishing them
RIM Program Volunteer
Primary need is homework help on Saturday mornings at Africa House, 10 am - 1 pm
Assist with RIM events
Desired Qualities:
Willing listener
Encouraging and supportive
Patient and flexible
Tolerant and respectful of individual differences

The Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization (IRCO) is a non-profit organization established in 1976 to serve immigrants and refugees in Portland, Oregon. IRCO assists individuals and families successfully navigate their lives from cradle through career. IRCO provides programs and volunteer opportunities in the following areas:
