Food Pantry Steward

ORGANIZATION: Volunteers of America Northern Colorado Services

Food Pantry Stewards provide services to residents of the Estes Valley who are in need. At the end of their shift, the Food Pantry Steward will have encouraged and accompanied approximately 5-10 clients through the pantry, and also helped to stock and maintain in. Helping clients access and utilize the food pantry reduces their overall expenses and ultimately can help them achieve self-sufficiency.

The number one thing asked of Food Pantry Stewards is to encourage the clients as they accompany them through the Food Pantry, assisting them in making sound nutritional choices. They also weigh-in food contributions and weigh-out distributions to clients, as well as help organize the food pantry and review stock for expiration dates and food recalls. The environment is a team of generally three in the food pantry working together to provide uplifting services to our clients.
