Volunteers carry out 90% of the humanitarian work of the Red Cross. Whether helping one displaced family or
thousands, providing care and comfort to an ill or injured service member or veteran, or teaching others how to respond in emergencies, it’s through the efforts of ordinary people that we can do extraordinary things. The Red Cross responds to an emergency every 8 minutes, and our vital work is only possible because of people like you.
Disaster Action Team Member
Every day The American Red Cross responds to approximately 190 house fires across the country. Because of volunteers like you, we are able to respond to the devastation a house fire can bring within 2 hours of receiving the call that a family is in need.
We are actively recruiting for volunteers who want to be part of our Disaster Action Teams (DAT) in Richland County. DAT members respond to local disasters within 2 hours of notification and directly help people affected by disasters by providing food, shelter, essential reliefs supplies, and hope.
