The Initiative Baltimore (501(c)(3) strives to inspire young men to lead their communities through civic engagement, community development and political leadership. The initiative aims to foster a Baltimore community where every citizen votes, is educated about the political system and is encouraged to develop community-driven solutions.
The Board of Directors provides leadership, vision, and strategic planning for the organization. Directors participate in organizational governance and oversight and explore ways to open doors for expanded fundraising opportunities, recruitment of board members, and new marketing and public relations opportunities.
Additional responsibilities include:
Supports the fundraising efforts of the organization annually through personal or corporate financial contributions.
Visits an active program to become familiar with the structure and style of services delivered and the population served; and
Makes every effort to attend all board and committee meetings (either in person or by conference call)
Serves as an active member on at least one committee
Mission: The Stand-Up Baltimore Initiative strives to inspire young men to lead their communities through civic engagement, community development and political leadership. The Stand-Up Baltimore Initiative mentoring sessions will include:
Meet weekly between 3-4 hours to cover trainings, workshops, tours, recreational activities and school projects.
Topics including: community action, local, city, state and national politics will be addressed. As well as the areas leadership and manhood.
Mentoring from trained by staff, volunteers, local (city), state and national representatives.
Increased knowledge and interest in civic and community leadership.
Increased motivation to take a leadership position on issues impacting local community.
Increased professional development and public speaking skills.
Desire to continue obtain education to help become a civic leader.
