Hospice by the Bay

Were you in the military? Are you a good listener? Are you caring, helpful and adaptable?

As a Veteran Hospice Patient and Family Support Volunteer for Hospice by the Bay you’ll be making a significant difference for someone facing end-of-life challenges. Your meaningful contributions will support the Hospice Care Team by:

> Relieving a family caregiver
> Providing companionship to patients
> Listening to life stories
> Playing their favorite music
> Reading a book
> Writing letters and memories
> Assisting with a favorite activity
> Running an errand or doing small chores
> Accompanying a patient on an outing

In return you’ll learn all about hospice care and receive comprehensive training to prepare you for working with our patients and their families.

"During my initial training, I was impressed by how well-run and organized both the classes and the organization are - they are quality, sensitive, caring and thoughtful people who serve a great mission. It is by far the best run non-profit I have ever been involved with and I would highly recommend it to anyone."

We hope you’ll consider joining our caring team! We’re especially looking for volunteers who are familiar with local Veteran’s homes in the Bay Area. Hospice by the Bay was founded by dedicated volunteers more than 40 years ago and they’re still at the heart of what we do.
