Mission Statement

Hospice by the Bay's purpose is to provide the highest quality hospice and support services to individuals and families. Hospice By The Bay's vision is to be the hospice provider of choice in Marin, San Francisco, Northern San Mateo and Sonoma counties. It continues to work to make a significant impact on families, as hospice patients feel comforted, supported and are able to experience an enhanced quality of life surrounded by those they love.

Hospice By The Bay raises funds to: 1) ensure that patients and families have access to our compassionate care and services regardless of personal circumstance, 2) to meet the end-of-life healthcare needs of underserved populations, and 3) to support the new and innovative Hospice By The Bay programs. Hospice by the Bay's vision is a community where every person and every family who needs hospice or support services is able to access care.

Hospice by the Bay was founded by volunteers as a non-profit, end-of-life healthcare provider in 1975. It was created by the community to serve the community. As the second oldest hospice in the U.S., Hospice By The Bay has the depth of experience to understand the medical, practical, emotional and spiritual care patients and their families need during the end of life experience. From its grassroots foundation by community volunteers (then named Hospice of Marin), Hospice By The Bay remains at the vanguard of the hospice industry and a premier, regional provider of end-of-life care.
