Be the first person to see the cats in the morning, and have them all to yourself! Perfect for animal-loving retirees looking to stay engaged in the community, college students, apartment dwellers who love animals, but can't have pets, etc!
Morning Feeder/Cleaner: Come in before cat café opens to feed cats, change water/food bowls, scoop litter boxes, vacuum rugs and wood floors, clean tabletops and other surfaces, keeps bathroom clean and tidy. Plenty of time to pet and play with cats too! Estimated time: 2 1/2 hours. Flexible hours, choose between 7am and 11am. We prefer for volunteers to come weekly or biweekly on the same day. We are also looking for Subs for when a regular volunteer can't come.
No additional volunteer opportunities at this time.
About Lucky Cat Cafe & Lounge
2230 Dundee Rd., Louisville, KY 40205, US
We are a 501c3 federally approved animal nonprofit. Our mission is to help homeless and abandoned shelter cats spend less time in cages while we help find PURRmanent homes for them. All cats/kittens in our space are adoptable. They have been spayed/neutered, micro-chipped, current on shots, and have been seen by vets. We work with 6 rescue groups that provide cats, including Louisville Metro Animal Services and Shamrock Foundation. Visitors also come to our safe, friendly space just to play and hang out with cats, which gives us opportunities to educate them about cat behavior and pet ownership.
We are a non-profit organization that is part cat adoption program and part coffee-shop. We are not a business like most cat cafes are. We opened in Sept 2018 and have found PURRmanent homes for more than 230 cats and kittens so far. Thousands of visitors, local and tourists, have visited our space, which has 3 large whimsical rooms inside a 100-year old Highlands blue bungalow. Cats are free-roaming, not in cages. It is their home 24/7 until they find the right person or family to adopt them.
During "normal" times, we host monthly events like Meditation, craft classes, and Storytime for Youngsters. Students in gr. 3-6 can join Book Buddies to practice their fluency skills by reading to cats. We could not run our organization without dedicated volunteers!
We currently have 40-50 men and women (mostly women though), from 20 up to 65 yrs old, who come on different days and do different kinds of jobs to help fulfill our mission. We/they all have one thing in common: The love of cats and the desire to help them find homes.
We have an enormous hand-painted mural on the side of our building that says: "Time spent with cats is never wasted." We are not sure who originally said this quote, but we believe it to be true. Please email if you have questions before applying: firstname.lastname@example.org
We'll work with your schedule.
