Mission Statement
We are a 501c3 animal nonprofit. Our mission is to help homeless and abandoned shelter cats spend less time in cages while we help find FURever homes for them. All cats/kittens in our space are adoptable. They have been tested for disease, updated on vaccines, spayed/neutered, and microchipped. We work with 6 rescue groups that provide cats, including Shamrock Foundation and CatHeads Kitty Rescue. Visitors also come to our safe, friendly space just to play and hang out with cats, which gives us opportunities to educate them about cat behavior and pet ownership.
Description
We are Kentucky's only nonprofit cat cafe. It is part cat adoption program and part coffee-shop. We are not a business like most cat cafes are. Nearly 500 cats and kittens have found furever homes so far through our program since 2018. Visitors (age 6+) are welcome to come in, relax, and pet cats or adopt one. Our place has 3 large colorful rooms inside a 100-year old Highlands bungalow. Cats are free-roaming, not in cages. It is their home 24/7 until they find the right person or family to adopt them.
We have a team of about 50 volunteers, from all ages and all walks of life. Many have been with us since we opened three years ago. Our volunteers come on different days and do different kinds of jobs to help fulfill our mission. We all have one thing in common: The love of cats to have a good life.
We have a 12-foot mural painted on the side of our blue house that says: "Time spent with cats is never wasted." We are not sure who originally said this quote, but we believe it to be true. Please email if you have questions before applying: luckycatcafe502@gmail.com
