ORGANIZATION: Special Events Management

Thank you so much for deciding to share your time on this St. Paddy’s Day 2020!

Come get seriously Irish for St. Patrick’s Day as Chicago’s St. Paddy’s Day 5K/8K Run & Walk returns to Lincoln Park for its 19th year of green fun. With a course route winding along the lakefront, participants are always encouraged to celebrate the Emerald Isle by donning their greenest outfits, wearing costumes, or being imaginative however they like! This year's race will benefit our long-standing partner, the Greater Chicago Food Depository, who will be on-site to collect food donations from runners and spectators alike. All of our athletes receive a bag that can be used to donate to the Food Depository.

So grab your friends, show your Celtic pride, and come help kick us off the Spring and support or local Food Depository while we're at it!

In addition, all participants will receive a commemorative event shirt and are invited to the post-run party at a local bar/restaurant

As a Volunteer you will be resourceful in the following areas:

Course Marshals -

You will be spaced along the course to direct Participants towards the Finish line. Making sure to alert of Turns, Turn Arounds, Split paths, assist with traffic supervision, etc.

Don't forget to Cheer them the on as they pass!


Course Water Stations -

You will be spaced along the course at tables to issue water to the passing runners/walkers.

You will outstretch your hand while holding a Cup/Bottle of water so that the Participants while running/walking can grasp it from your hand while passing .


Gear Check -

Gear check volunteers will place participant's belongings into bags and will place their bib tag number on their bags them to claim after they finish


Help in the Securement of the Participants belongings while they run/walk .

Greeters -

Volunteers will serve as guides to direct participants to the registration area.

Food Stations -

Hep with the Distribution of After Run Snacks.

Clean Up -

You will be provided Garbage bags and gloves to help in the cleanup of empty water cups/bottles.

Start/Finish line Water SetUp -

You will be at tables ready to pass water cup/bottle to the Participants as they pass the finish line to rehydrate themselves .

SetUp Opps Crew as Needed -

Help in the Set up and Distribution of the Water stations.

Any other SetUp Crew tasks needed.

Participants Check in / Registration -

You will help with: Check in of Participants, pass out registration forms/packets, T Shirts, etc.


With your awesome help we can make positive change.

All volunteers must provide a copy of a valid ID with their Volunteer Registration Form

Volunteers must wear their volunteer shirts for the duration of the event.

Description

Founded in 1988 and celebrating its 35th year in 2023, Chicago Special Events Management (SEM) has grown to become the largest producer of events in the Midwest. These range in size from fundraising runs & walks that draw 500-10,000 participants, to weekend-long art and street festivals that attract between 15,000-150,000 attendees. SEM has a full-time staff of 32 employees and produces 100-plus events of every shape and size each year. All of the events produced by SEM support a non-for-profit beneficiary in the community.
