Kids on the Block
Kids on the Block volunteer puppeteers make a difference every day!

Communities for Safe Kids offers a series of violence prevention workshops for students, caregivers, and school staff. We work to prevent the most common types of violence children are going through by:

  • Helping students have better relationships with each other through mindfulness, appreciation of diversity, and an understanding of bullying, bystander, and friendship behaviors;
  • Helping adults inside and outside of school create a warm, caring environment, where students feel like they’re heard and can seek help when needed;

Additionally we seek to create healthy societal norms to prevent many types of violence children experience, such as child abuse and domestic violence, and to promote supportive and help-seeking behaviors.

We are searching for individuals who are fluent in Spanish, Russian,Somali, Arabic, Vietnamese, Chinese, Slavic, Filipino, and Tagalog to help translate take home handouts provided to students after each C4SK presentation. These handouts inform parents of what was covered in the workshops, and act as a means to encourage comprehension and further learning.

The project would consist of translating 16 documents containing roughly 5,500 words total. We are willing to work with multiple individuals on this project and appreciate any help that we may receive!
