Impact NW’s mission is to inspire hope and empower independence. Our department serves seniors in inner SE Portland to remain independent in their homes through case management, transportation, activities and other services. We are seeking volunteers to be Tai Chi Instructors. We have an active group of clients, some new and some who have been practicing a long time. We need someone to lead a class one to two day a week. The class is focused on fall prevention and balance. We would love to have you join us and lead our seniors. Dates and times are flexible. Join our community!

Our volunteers are truly at the heart of all that we do. Impact NW partners with Ride Connection to provide rides to our community. Thanks to caring people, like you, thousands of older adults, veterans, and people with disabilities can stay connected with their communities and access the goods and services they need to stay healthy. I’m excited that you’d like to join us in this important work. Volunteering as a driver is a very rewarding job. Not only will you help individuals get to the places they need to go, but you will also have the opportunity to meet interesting people from all walks of life. Often the customer/driver interaction may be the only social outlet our customers have. Drivers can choose to drive thier own vehicle or a company vehicle.

At Impact NW, we prevent homelessness by partnering with people navigating their journey to stability and opportunity. We serve as a community of care against these challenging times to help people dream big, find financial stability and live a beautiful life. Founded in 1966, we serve more than 30,000 people a year in the Portland-Vancouver area through programs that stabilize and strengthen. Our programs focus on all ages, from newborn to elders, and help people facing housing insecurity find relief and build strengths, experiences and opportunities. More than half the people we serve identify as Indigenous, Black, Brown, Melanated, Immigrant or Asian, as does our staff. This volunteer position provides phone calls for companionship to isolated seniors in SE Portland. There may be opportunities for visiting in person if it is a match to the volunteer. Volunteers will work closely with the client's case manager to provide high-quality support to the participant. Clients and volunteers can build ongoing relationships.
