Duties: General Description:
The Youth Services Department is looking for Tutors to provide academic assistance to Boston Public School students participating in an afterschool a job placement program that helps youth stay in school.
Duties/Responsibilities:
* Provide small group or one-on-one assistance with homework to youth in the program
* Ask students about specific topics or subject areas that are giving them trouble/do not understand
* Review upcoming or recent homework assignments and test scores and help youth work through incorrect questions/problems using problem solving and critical thinking skills
* Create and encourage a learning environment that will help youth develop a study plan and improve their study habits
* Develop positive relationships with students and practice instructional skills Qualifications: * Creative, flexible, and dedicated individuals that will act as role-models and mentors to our students
* Must have a minimum of a high school diploma
* Current or prior college experience highly preferred
* Experience tutoring high school students preferred
* Committed to the social and emotional development of BPS youth

Tutoring takes place one week day (Monday - Friday) 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
