Start The Adventure In Reading (STAIR-Annapolis) is a twice-weekly, after school literacy tutoring program for Anne Arundel County Public Schools second graders currently reading below grade level. We have 12 sites conveniently located at elementary schools and community centers across Annapolis and throughout Anne Arundel County, and have more than 100 children enrolled in our program. STAIR is looking for tutors to work one-on-one with a student for an hour-long session, and we offer our volunteers the flexibility to choose their level of commitment: one day per week, two days per week, or as a substitute on an as-needed basis. STAIR offers a comprehensive 2-4 hour training program for our Tutors and Coordinators, and use an educator approved curriculum. Tutors are not required to be educators, however sign up for their level of commitment. For more information on how to become a STAIR tutor beginning in October and continuing into the May of 2022, contact volunteer_coordinator@stairannapolis.org, or visit our website at https://stairannapolis.org/volunteer/application/
