Start The Adventure In Reading (STAIR-Annapolis) is a twice-weekly, AFTER SCHOOL literacy tutoring program for Anne Arundel County Public School second graders currently reading below grade level. STAIR is looking for tutors to work one on one with students at our Annapolis sites and to choose a location that is most convenient for you. We offer our new Tutors the flexibility to choose their level of commitment: one day per week, two days per week or as a substitute. Substitute tutors work with a student for an hour 15 minute-long session on days when the child's regular tutor is sick or on vacation. The Site leaders will text and ask for availability and substitutes can accept or decline. STAIR offers a comprehensive 2 hour training program for all tutors and use an educator approved curriculum.
A one hour Information session will be held on Thursday, June 13th from 12-1:00, at the Annapolis Public Library on West Street. We will begin training New tutors in mid-August for our 2024/2025 semester that begins in late September/early October. Interested new tutors contact volunteer_coordinator@stairannapolis.org for more information.
