Start The Adventure In Reading (STAIR-Annapolis) is a twice-weekly, AFTER SCHOOL literacy tutoring program for Anne Arundel County Public School second graders currently reading below grade level. STAIR is looking for tutors to work one-on-one at some of our Annapolis locations, as well as our sites at Severn Elementary and Van Bokkelen Elementary for the 2022-2023 school year beginning this Fall. Tutors work with a student for an hour-long session, and we offer our volunteers the flexibility to choose their level of commitment: one day per week, two days per week, or as a substitute on an as-needed basis, and to choose a location that is most convenient for you. STAIR offers a comprehensive 1-2 hour training program for our Tutors and Coordinators, and use an educator approved curriculum. Tutors are not required to be educators and sign up for their level of commitment. For more information about our New Tutor Training Session on Tuesday, August 9th, or on how to become a STAIR tutor, contact volunteer_coordinator@stairannapolis.org, or visit our website at https://stairannapolis.org/volunteer/application/.
