Safe Passage, Inc.

Purpose: To develop community connections in order to spread the message about Safe Passage’s services and create a culture of change


  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Completion of 15 hours of Volunteer Training Program
  • Completion of 3 hours of Speaker’s Bureau Training
  • Ability to remain non-judgmental and non-directive
  • Passion for public speaking
  • High level of attention to details and organization
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Signing and adhering to confidentiality pledge
  • Access to reliable transportation and phone service
  • Adherence to the philosophy, goals and policies of Safe Passage
  • National child abuse and criminal clearances


  • Go out into the community and give presentations on behalf of the organization
  • Research places and events for presentations
  • Work with team of ambassadors to create outreach campaign
  • Attend monthly outreach ambassador meetings
  • Attend quarterly volunteer training updates

Learning Opportunity:

  • Receive working knowledge of services provided to victims and survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse at SPI
  • Learn how to develop and implement community engagement campaign
  • Gain experience in professional public speaking for diverse audiences
  • Develop familiarity with responsibilities of victim service providers
  • Network with community partners and government personnel
  • Work to create a culture of change pertaining to violence against adults and children

Time Commitment: 6-month commitment. At least 2 events a month.

Availability: Mostly nights and weekends, some mornings.
