Most people can’t wait for the weekend. Kids at risk of hunger can’t wait for it to be over.
There are more than 13 million children in this country who are at risk of hunger. Blessings in a Backpack mobilizes communities, individuals, and resources to provide food on the weekends for elementary school children across America who might otherwise go hungry. Blessings is a 501 C (3) non-profit organization currently feeding over 87,300 children in nearly 1,100 schools in 46 U.S. states and the District of Columbia.
We have an in-office volunteer opportunity that would total about 35 hours of service. With the holiday season upon us, we have several hundred holiday cards to send out to donors. This volunteer service project would include stamping, labeling, and signing cards. These projects will not require computer use but will require a large amount of writing and organizational skills to keep track of all of the cards and make sure they are mailed to the correct donor.
We need assistance November 11, 12, 13 anytime between 9am-4pm
These volunteer hours can be filled by one volunteer or multiple volunteers depending on availability. This activity needs to be done Monday-Thursday, during regular business hours of 9am-4pm, however, we are able to adhere to your schedule within that time frame.

Mission Statement
Blessings in a Backpack mobilizes communities, individuals and resources to provide food on the weekends for elementary school children across America who might otherwise go hungry.
Description
Our Vision:
Every school-aged child in America has the nourishment needed to learn and grow. As a leader in the movement to end childhood hunger, Blessings in a Backpack strives to ensure children do not go hungry on the weekends by empowering individuals and communities to take action.
Why Do We Do It
More than 13 million children in this country are at risk of hunger. The consequences of hunger are much more than a growling stomach. Poor nutrition can result in a weaker immune system, increased hospitalization, lower IQ, shorter attention spans, and lower academic achievement. Federal government programs feed children during the school week, but we also want to ensure they get nutritional meals over the weekend.
How Much Does it Cost?
$150 will feed one child on the weekends for one 36-week school year through the Blessings in a Backpack program. The Results: Nourished Kids Ready to Learn.
Food is an essential building block; in this case, it truly is a blessing, especially to a hungry child!
