You're cordially invited to our 10 a.m., Tuesday, December 15, 2020 for a Free Zoom Online Presentation to get updated on the latest programs and volunteer opportunities at Boomers Leading Change (BLC), a nonprofit serving active 50+ older adults. To keep you safe and healthy we have dozens of remote volunteer positions every month that can be handled from home on your pad or laptop!

We offer programs in 3 key areas - Service, Learning and Connection

SERVICE
Ready to roll up your sleeves and use your talents/sills? Boomers Leading Change partners with diverse host sites to support children, elderly, immigrants/refugees, workforce development and more. Most of our volunteer positions are handled remotely so that you can work safely from home. Our partners are looking for volunteers to interact with their clients and who can help support infrastructure such as marketing, fundraising and technical support.

LEARNING
Join other engaged older adults in learning something new by participating in BLC's Experience U monthly educational programs and workshops with a focus on three themes: Leadership, Lifestyle and Livelihood. Each program offers a fresh topic presented by expert presenters in their fields. Some examples: downsizing/right sizing or starting a small business, job search strategies for older adults, support for people-friendly streets, and so much more!

CONNECTION
Grab a cup of coffee and join others for great informal conversations - birth order, what does your best life look like, car talk for classic auto buffs and so much more. Coffee, Tea and BLC meets virtually ever Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. It's always FREE!

Mission Statement

The mission of Boomers Leading Change is to mobilize, connect and empower Adults 50+ to utilize their skills, experience, passion and energy to create positive, lasting social change.

Description

Boomers Leading Change (BLC) opened it's doors in 2010 to support the Boomer generation in rewriting a positive narrative of aging. BLC partners with over 40 host organizations across Metro Denver to address issues that affect an individual's ability to get and stay healthy.

These high-impact positions serve populations from young children to frail elderly and long-time Denver residents to immigrants new to the community. Environments range from formal (for example health clinic) to on the ground grassroots organizations and everything in between.

There are two pathways for volunteering:
Boomer Volunteers is for individuals who are interested in contributing 3-6 hours weekly.
AmeriCorps Encore, the only program in CO, is for individuals age 55+ able to commit 10 or 20 hours weekly. It is an 11-month program which includes a stipend and an education credit upon completion.

BLC also offers a pathway for learning.
Colorado Encore Network is a monthly gathering for educational presentations, animated discussions and the opportunity to connect with other adults age 50+.

The Action Academy is an ongoing series of two-hour sessions taught by experts from community organizations. Participants learn practical skills on the most effective ways to make their voices heard, as well as education information on a variety of important issues.
