Come plant with us at the Duwamish Hill Preserve!

You can be one of hundreds of volunteers getting your hands dirty at various sites on the Green - Duwamish River, working to improve its habitat for all of the plants, animals, and humans that call this place home! This year, we will be continuing restoration efforts by planting native plants and spreading mulch to help them flourish in their new home at the Duwamish Hill Preserve! No experience is necessary for volunteering, so bring along your friends, families, and coworkers for this day of service! Mission Statement

Forterra's mission is to act with immediacy to protect, enhance and steward our region's most precious resources--its communities and its landscapes. Since 1989, we have been working toward a future in which our children and grandchildren can experience nature in and around our urban environments.

Description

Forterra conserves land by working with individuals, companies and local governments. We strive to maximize the ecological value of land, while meeting the needs of landowners. We may accept land as a donation, purchase it, or transfer it to public ownership. We often serve as a broker to identify and negotiate the most effective ownership to protect important lands. We establish conservation easements to preserve special features. For each and every property, we explore available strategies or create new ones to provide permanent protection. Forterra has established a Conservation Agenda for our region, with specific priorities and methods for each type of landscape. Current initiatives include the protection of working forests on the foothills of the Cascades, and the creation of salmon sanctuaries along our region's highest quality rivers and streams.
