Communications/International Relations Volunteer!

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Advocates for World Health, Inc.

  • 4 people are interested

This opportunity will center around the non-profit's communications with local donors, as well as international recipients of our medical aid.

Duties related to donations will be focused on coordinating with and reaching out to our current hospital and clinic donors to facilitate donations. Duties related to international recipients will deal mainly with assessing the medical need in partner countries and walking recipients through the process of obtaining medical supplies.

Learning outcomes for volunteers:
-International exposure. We work frequently with organizations and individuals abroad. A certain exposure and appreciation of these cultures and needs will be gained in order to fulfill their extreme needs when it comes to medical supplies.

-Logistics. A big task of the communications team is to coordinate the transport of all products. This includes our local driver, cross-country LTL shipping, and international cargo ship transport. Knowing the most effective methods of transport given the scope of operations will grant a knowledge of logistics.

-Brand management. In communicating with outside entities about what Advocates for World Health does, a high level of appreciation and understanding of our brand will be gained. In navigating new and old contacts, that brand will have to be maintained.

-Customer service. Donors of medical supplies require certain services if they wish, such as tax deductions for those products. In general an intern's interactions with donors and anyone interested in working with us will be a high level of customer service.
