We are a special team of caring multilingual (Spanish, Farsi, and Mandarin) professionals in the City of Fremont Human Services Department. We have diverse backgrounds in social work, nursing, psychology and gerontology. We work closely with other agencies that serve seniors and their families.

The Office Asst. performs a variety of clerical tasks in support of the Aging and Family Services Program, as well as providing front counter reception and information and referral services for walk-in Human Services Department clients.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Sorts and files closed case files; maintaining drawer in alphabetical order.
  • Acts as a receptionist; answers the telephone and assists the general public and City staff.
  • Schedule meetings in Outlook
  • Maintains and updates mailing lists.
  • Types or enters data, proofreading documents.
  • Receive materials submitted for records retention.
  • Assist with special events:
    • Giving Hope-
      • Giving Hope Holiday drive -
  • Maintaining all folders containing various forms/brochures and replenishing them when necessary.
  • Preparation of surveys and reports for Aging and Family Services programs.
  • Browsing internet for resources needed by AFS clients i.e. Residential Care facilities, Medi-Cal/Medi-Care physicians, specialty Care Physicians, senior housing, denti-Cal Physicians, etc.
  • Participating in various training programs i.e. Excel, Access, Donor Quest, SAMS, etc.
  • Setup for meetings such as coffee, tea, moving tables around.
  • Inputting data into PsychConsult, SAMS, Excel, Donor Quest and Access for various programs.

REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with office staff.

  • Written and verbal fluency in English.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment in the course of daily responsibilities.
  • Skill in working effectively under deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft suite of applications is desired.

The Fremont FRC is a collaborative of 25+ City, County, State, and non-profit social service agencies working together under one roof to serve families in Southern Alameda County, including Fremont, Union City, Newark and Hayward. The City of Fremont’s Human Services Department is the lead agency - the FRC Core Team - and provides the key staff who administers the FRC and coordinates the many initiatives underway at the Center.
