Join your Snoqualmie neighbors in celebrating the community’s forests by helping to plant several hundred trees and shrubs. This event is our biggest volunteering event of the year and a great time to plant a tree and leave a living legacy in the community. There will be food from local businesses, prizes to raffle off, and all gloves, and tools are provided. This event is great for families, and all ages and abilities can help out!

This year the event will take place at Stillwater Bog in Community Park. Community Park is at the center of Snoqualmie Ridge. Volunteers have been working all summer to remove invasive blackberry plants that had established on a forested buffer of Stillwater Bog, a unique and largely unknown natural feature of the community. We are so excited to begin planting this buffer with native trees and shrubs to ensure the longevity of this forest and habitat into the future!

Please dress for the weather in clothes you don't mind getting dirty. Also remember to wear close toed shoes and bring a reusable water bottle!

Mission Statement

Forterra's mission is to act with immediacy to protect, enhance and steward our region's most precious resources--its communities and its landscapes. Since 1989, we have been working toward a future in which our children and grandchildren can experience nature in and around our urban environments.

Description

Forterra conserves land by working with individuals, companies and local governments. We strive to maximize the ecological value of land, while meeting the needs of landowners. We may accept land as a donation, purchase it, or transfer it to public ownership. We often serve as a broker to identify and negotiate the most effective ownership to protect important lands. We establish conservation easements to preserve special features. For each and every property, we explore available strategies or create new ones to provide permanent protection. Forterra has established a Conservation Agenda for our region, with specific priorities and methods for each type of landscape. Current initiatives include the protection of working forests on the foothills of the Cascades, and the creation of salmon sanctuaries along our region's highest quality rivers and streams.
