The Barnes Memorial Nature Center

Guest Services Volunteers are, many times, the first and last people that visitors to the Nature Center see and speak to. This important position entails greeting and orienting visitors to the Visitor Center. This includes talking about Environmental Learning Centers of CT as an organization, describe the Nature Center and exhibits, introducing events and programs, suggesting the benefits of membership, taking admission, checking membership cards and running the nature gift shop. Guest Services Volunteers also meet and greet our guests during special events.

Appropriate for ages 18 and up. A friendly, outgoing and engaging demeanor is Required. Ability to use a desk top computer, I-Pad for credit card payments, and a cash register. Willingness to learn new things.

Description

Environmental Learning Center of Connecticut, ELCCT, offers a diversity of hands-on experiential programs using a variety of resources and facilities. Our programs are offered at the Barnes Nature Center, Indian Rock Nature Preserve and in the schools of Connecticut. We annually provided our environmental educational programs to over 25,000 children and families from over 70 Connecticut communities! In addition to our education programs, ELCCT also serves as a land trust and has protected over 750 acres of land in Bristol and Burlington, Connecticut. We encourage you to get involved.
