ORGANIZATION: Action for Boston Community Development

General Description:

ABCD’s network of neighborhood offices are the first point of contact for many individuals and families in need of critical services. The Field Operations Volunteer will assist staff in the daily operations of the neighborhood program.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the client intake process, i.e. filling out applications, answering client inquiries and providing information about ABCD services
  • Provide front desk and phone coverage
  • Conduct research of other referral agencies and community resources
  • Perform data entry into the Client Track system
  • Assist with food pantry operations

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Must possess strong written and oral communication skills
  • Previous tutoring experience a plus
  • Bilingual in a language spoken by ABCD clients desired (Spanish, Haitian Creole, Cape Verdean Creole, Vietnamese, Mandarin, Cantonese, Portuguese, Arabic, Russian)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and Google products
  • Ability to lift 15 pounds
  • Familiarity of Boston’s communities, especially the communities of Malden, Medford, and Everett is encouraged

Length of Commitment:

Ongoing between 9/11/2018-4/19/2018
Volunteers must commit to a minimum of 4 hours per week

Schedule:

Monday-Friday

9am - 5:00pm
