ORGANIZATION: NAMI San Fernando Valley

Looking for excited, self-starter to help us help others affected by mental illness, live better lives. With a focus on the Hispanic community, we seek to educate, normalize and make it okay to have what is a physical condition like any other. You will help us manage and maintain our volunteer and community partner data using our relationship and productivity platform. You will be trained to manipulate our data to get a good look at the success of our programs, people and community engagement activity. Approximately 1 in 5 adults in the U.S.-43.8 million-experiences mental illness in a given year. Yet, only 41% of those adults received mental health services in the past year. The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is the nation's largest volunteer-led grassroots organizations helping individuals affected by mental illness. At NAMI San Fernando Valley, we are proud to offer free support groups, educational programs, and outreach presentations to individuals and families affected by mental illness. We tirelessly fight the stigmatization of mental illness through our advocacy and outreach efforts to spread awareness in our communities. NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness.

Started as a small group of families gathered around a kitchen table in 1979, NAMI has blossomed into the nation's leading voice on mental health. Today, NAMI is an association of hundreds of local affiliates, state organizations and volunteers who work in your community to raise awareness and provide support and education that was not previously available to those in need. NAMI relies on gifts and contributions to support its important work.
